Mohammed Rashid

Mohammed Rashid is a Bahraini composer and guitarist whose work reflects a diverse musical background and a strong connection to the musical heritage of Bahrain and the Gulf.

His musical practice spans multiple styles, including jazz, rock, contemporary music, and Gulf musical traditions. His debut album explored Gypsy Jazz, while his more recent work has focused on the possibilities of microtonal electric guitar, incorporating Gulf rhythms and musical elements into contemporary instrumental music.

As a composer and guitarist, Rashid is interested in exploring new ways to connect regional musical traditions with contemporary sounds. His work includes original compositions, recordings, live performances, and collaborative projects, with a particular focus on developing a contemporary Bahraini and Gulf musical voice.

Rashid holds a Bachelor’s degree in Composition and Theory from the Higher Institute of Musical Arts in Kuwait, a Master’s degree in Musicology, and a PhD in Musicology.
